Sapphire HD 6790 Sets New Standards

SAPPHIRE Technology, the largest manufacturer and supplier worldwide of graphics solutions based on AMD technology has just announced a new graphics card delivering all the key features demanded by the latest games and applications - but at an exciting new price point.

Unsurprisingly, XFX is supporting AMD's newest Barts-powered card, the Radeon HD 6970, and is releasing its own version featuring an overclocking-ready design with two 6-pin PCIe power connectors (the PowereColor HD 6790 has just one 6-pin plug) and a custom cooler.

PowerColor seems to be in a hurry to release its Radeon HD 6790 graphics card (model: AX6790 1GBD5-DH), so much so that it's already listed on popular retailer Newegg.com for US $149.99. Powercolor's card sticks to stock frequencies of 840 MHz core, 4.20 GHz memory, and features 1 GB of GDDR5 memory over a 256-bit wide memory interface. The HD 6790 is said to have 800 out of 1120 of stream processors on the 40 nm Barts GPU enabled.

AFOX exposes its GeForce GT 530, will have some explaining to do

Hong Kong-based add-in board maker AFOX has probably raised the alarm at Nvidia HQ (again) as on its website it posted information on a yet unannounced product, the GeForce GT 530 graphics card.

AMD's much anticipated Radeon HD 6990 made a brief public appearance this weekend in a demo by the company's graphics team manager Matt Skynner. The executive whipped out the card while discussing the company's APU technology, and while no actual details were revealed of the product itself, Japanese site 4gamer managed to get some close up shots of the massive dual-GPU card as well as a few details from reps at the event.
