Toshiba has just revealed its newest line of PMP-friendly hard drives, with the industry's first 1.8-inch units being issued with low-insertion force (LIF) SATA connectors.
The new MKxx39GSL series is available in capacities of 160GB, 200GB and 220GB models and offer low-insertion-force (LIF) SATA connectors, offering a 10 percent smaller footprint compared to standard 1.8-inch drives using microSATA connectors.
Designed for mobile use, Toshiba's drives have one platter going at 4200 RPM (rotation per minute), 16MB of buffer memory, an access time of 15ms, a sound output of 15dB during seeks, and a shock resistance of 600G when operating and 1,500Gs when shut down.
The MKxx39GSL HDDs will start sampling next month.
