iPhone 4S Rival Alert : HTC Rezound Will Run Ice Cream Sandwich

HTC announced that its newest top of the range Android handset, the HTC Rezound, would be upgradable to Google's newest operating system, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, by early next year.

Peter Chou, the CEO of HTC, made the announcement at the event to mark the launch of the device. The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is currently the only smartphone on the market to come with ICS and will be launched in the UK in the second half of November.

The HTC Rezound, which has yet to be announced in the UK, will be the company's first HD ready phone, which means that the handset has almost the same pixel density as Apple's Retina Display.

It has a 4.3-inch display, a dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC clocked at 1.5GHz, 1GB RAM, up to 32GB onboard storage, a microSD card slot, an eight megapixel camera with full HD recording capabilities and a custom pair of Beats headsets.

The smartphone will be available exclusively on Verizon Wireless's 4G LTE network in the US for $299.99 on a two year contract. The HTC Rezound displaces the HTC Sensation and Sensation XE at the top of HTC's portfolio and complements the Sensation XL.
