Asus Eee Pad Transformer Android tablet to ship in the US next week


Motorola Xoom, watch out as next week, on April 26th, Asus' Eee Pad Transformer will reach stores in both US and Canada, offering a fresh mix of Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) and Tegra 2. This new tablet will be available in two versions - with 16GB of storage space ($399) and with 32GB ($499).

The Eee Pad Transformer measures 271 x 177 x 12.98 mm, weights 680 grams, and features the mentioned Tegra 2 SoC, a 10.1-inch IPS capacitive touchscreen (1280 x 800) toughened with Gorilla Glass, an SD card slot, a 5 megapixel rear-facing camera, a front 1.2 megapixel camera, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, and a mini HDMI output.

To get even more out of the Transformer, Asus will offer a keyboard docking station (priced at $149) that includes a QWERTY keyboard, Android function keys, two USB 2.0 ports, a 4-in-1 card reader, SRS premium sound, and a built-in battery which increases battery life to up to 16 hours.
