Dell Streak 7 just got announced. It’s a powerful 7 inch tablet

Last year's Dell Streak tablet was an unimpressive product that has failed to catch public attention, and the biggest reason for that was the 5 inch form factor, not big enough for a tablet and too large for a smartphone. I'm glad that Dell realized that as it just officially announced the Dell Streak 7, a 7 inch tablet with lot of 'talent' behind it. We knew about it a few weeks ago, but now it's time to take a look at the specs, the ones that are setting apart the Streak 7 from the normal Streak, which by the way, should have been called Dell Streak 5.

Even if looks are kept almost identical, except the difference in size, what's inside matters the most, and here the Streak 7 got a serious performance upgrade thanks to it's 1 GHz dual core Tegra 2 CPU, that promises to speed things up a lot in the Android 2.2 version (the one that's running currently on the Streak 7) and will even handle Android 3.0 Honeycomb without any issues when it will arrive. Just hope Dell will issue an OS upgrade soon after that.

If you think that running Android 2.2 is a bad thing, just think about availability, as the Dell Streak 7 should be available soon with T-Mobile (not after a few months, like will happen with all announced Honeycomb tablets), on their newly upgraded 4G LTE network supporting download speeds up to 22 Mbps. If you can afford the data plan you could fill up the 16 GB of internal memory of the Streak 7 really fast. Video calls on the 1.3 megapixel front facing camera should also be pretty fluid, so will be sharing your 5 megapixel captured photos from the second camera. The audio department was also upgraded with stereo speakers. Annoying others just got easier.

As you can see from the videos below the tablet is in pretty good shape so expect a fast launch. The user interface has undergone some changes, but don't expect HTC Sense like changes. Dell hasn't released any figures yet about pricing and battery life, but we'll let you know once we know more.
